Research

For research requests, email us at methmuse@mooremuseum.org

Our library is one of our finest sources for information concerning our Methodism from its beginnings in England with the Wesley's, and continuing through it’s early establishment in America, through more recent events such as the unification with the Evangelical United Brethren Church in 1968. We want to tell the whole story and the library enables us to do just this. Added to this is a very fine selection of Methodist biographies including handwritten diaries. We also have a complete set of Conference journals from the beginning along with Methodist disciplines.

In addition to the Wesleyanna we have a magnificent collection of Georgia history containing many rare treasures. A principle contributor to this collection was Dr. Sam Sherouse, collector of Georgianna. None of this material is available for circulation and our rarest books are only available with the assistance of museum staff. Some of our rarest books are kept in a climate control vault for maximum protection along with other documents such as the Wesleyan Christian Advocate (which is in both bound and microfilm form) that dates back to 1828.

It is amazing how often we receive requests for research in these wonderful facilities. And it is always our pleasure to help you delve into your history. Please email us your research requests to methmuse@mooremuseum.org. You may also fill out this form Research Request and mail, fax or email to the information at the top of the form.
