After reaching Brunswick, Georgia, cross the F. J. Torras Causeway onto St. Simons Island and follow the signs to Sea Island Road. Continue straight through the traffic light and turn left at street marked Methodist Center Booth Gate and then left onto Arthur J. Moore Drive.

Why the Arthur J. Moore Award for Historic Preservation

Bishop Arthur J. Moore was Bishop of the combined North and South Georgia conferences and the Orient, particularly in Korea. He served as President of the Board of Missions for twenty years. The museum at Epworth-by-the-Sea is named bor Bishop Moore. and begans as a collection of his artifacts and personal library. Epworth-by-the-Sea is Bishop Moore's dream come true. In 1949 he was the inspiration behind the purchase of the property which is now Epworth and had a life-long interest in preserving the history of churches large and small. The Moore Museum houses the archives and local church histories of the South Georgia Conference which aids historians in compiling and preserving their histories. This award will be presented to the person who has most exemplified the spirit of Bishop Moore ins searching out, recording and preserving the story of South Georgia Methodism.

Arthur J. Moore Award Nomination Form

Deadlines:

The deadline for nominations to be submitted is September 1 of each year with award to be announced the following year. The award will be given at the Annual Conference with a special breakfast, a presentation at the recipient's church and at the annual Friends of the Museum meeting in December

Decision and Notification:

A decision for the winner of the Arthur J. Moore Award will be made by January 1 of the following year. This decision will be mad by the Arthur J. Moore Museum Committee. The winner will be notified by phone so it is important to include a telephone number with the nomination.
